Little Stars: Our Pre-School

Our Pre-School

Pre-school is a very important step between toddlers and starting school. Developing independence and confidence in oneself is a big step for 1 to 5 year olds.

At Corvedale Centre for Children we aim to provide high quality care and education for pre-school children in a caring and stimulating environment.

We aim to provide a variety of activities to stimulate and encourage children to explore and develop at their own rate, whilst learning to share and socialise with other young children and adults.  The staff interact with the children by encouraging, facilitating and supporting them whilst they have fun, learn through play, talk about their experiences and share their enjoyment with others.

We have a very strong relationship with the Corvedale CofE Primary School and work together in partnership to ensure that the transition from pre-school into school is one that is smooth.

Since November 2009 we have been situated in a purpose built area adjoining the primary school.  This area has been designed specifically with the needs of 1 to 5 year olds in mind.

Key Persons

We use a key person approach. This means that each member of staff has a group of children for whom she/he is particularly responsible.

Your child’s key person will be the person who works with you to make sure that what we provide is right for your child’s particular needs and interests. When your child first starts at the setting, she/he will help your child to settle and throughout your child’s time at the setting, she/he will help your child to benefit from the setting’s activities.

The children at Little Stars Pre-school are working within the Foundation Stage of their education.

Children’s Development & Learning

We aim to ensure that each child is in a safe and stimulating environment with generous care and attention, because of our ratio of qualified staff to children, as well as volunteer parent helpers. We try to ensure that each child has the chance to join with other children and adults to live, play, work and learn together. Each child is helped to take forward her/his learning and development by being helped to build on what she/he already knows and can do.
